YOUNGSTERS have been given the chance to be trained by top-class professional boxing coaches.
Children living on Deptford's Milton Court, Evelyn and Pepys estates have been attending training classes for the past three weeks at Frank Maloney's Fight Factory gym in Wotton Road, Deptford.
The Fight Factory has previously worked with Lennox Lewis and trained current British Heavyweight champion Matt Skelton.
The aim of the initiative is to give children on the estates aged between 10 and 16 something to do and help them learn skills to box.
Maloney's boxing trainer Alan Smith is overseeing the training for around 10 youngsters twice a week.
The sessions have been arranged by Police Community Support Officer Tim Ward who has a personal interest in boxing.
He said: "Boxing is a really good way to improve not only personal fitness but also teaches self-discipline and self respect."
