HUNDREDS of pupils are getting to grips with the issue of waste after a charity delivered 40 recycling bins to four schools.

Environmental charity Groundwork, based in Dartford, is encouraging the children, aged between four and 11, to think about waste.

Pupils from Swanscombe Infant, Swan Valley School, Sweyne County Primary and Craylands Community School, all in Swanscombe, will be taking part.

Groundwork community development officer Diane Snell said: "By encouraging children to recycle waste at school it will allow them to do the same at home."

The 40 bins, which cost £25, were provided by Dartford Council, which will also organise waste collections in the schools.
