BOBBIES on bikes have proved a success against crime and disorder after officers rode into action and made four arrests in connection with a burglary.
Two officers from Bexleyheath Safer Neighbourhoods policing team got to the scene of the crime quickly by cycling through backstreets.
On January 5 the officers arrived in time to see suspects leaving the scene in a vehicle and were able to direct their colleagues to cut off their escape route.
Seven out of the current 10 Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in Bexley regularly use bikes to patrol their areas.
