WINNIE the Pooh fans joined forces to celebrate the birthday of the famous bear's creator.

Youngsters were transported into the world of the Hundred Acre Wood during a party at Wavelengths Library, Giffin Street, Deptford.

The children were joined by Pooh, Christopher Robin and other characters to mark the birthday of AA Milne, who was born on January 18, 1882, and who died 50 years ago in 1956.

Fans had the chance to create their own doorhangers and bookmarks and also took part in Pooh-themed competitions.

Lewisham's cabinet member for culture Councillor Alyson McGarrigle says the day showed how libraries are "engaging the borough's youngest people".
