I AM writing to you as a health and safety officer for London Underground. What most concerns me about the proposed school in Willingale Road is that firstly it is going to be built on Green Belt land.

Secondly it is going to be built so close to the M11 and M25 link road and thirdly there is a railway line, which is London Underground, and which carries 630 volts of current.

I would stress how many children are killed or injured each year as a result of what happens during playtimes, lunch breaks and home time journeys especially if situated near railway lines or busy roads.

As a resident this frightens and concerns me deeply.

There are four other proposed sites available, as we have been told by our councillors. I know the Labour Government is saying education, education, but as I have said I am concerned about the health and safety of all our children.

The other concerns are the crop spraying, which is still going to carry on as far as we are aware, and the effects of the lead and air pollution around the proposed site.

Will this have an effect on the children's health and condition of life throughout their school years?

M. SHARPE,

Willingale Road,

Loughton.
