HUNDREDS of pounds worth of goods were stolen from about 35 garages during a spate of thefts on Wednesday night.

Police are now warning garage owners to keep their belongings securely locked following the thefts in Spring Hills and Fold Croft.

A Harlow police spokesman said: "There were between 30 and 35 different incidents during the night. We are now asking garage-users to be aware that there is now a growing problem in Harlow.

"Please lock and secure all garages and be vigilant if you live near garages in case you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area."

Any witnesses, or anyone with information should call PC Vernon Fleming at Harlow police station on 641212.
