I read the article "Brush up or else, say furious residents", and can understand the residents' disgust at the rubbish they have to look at. However, it isn't Team Lambeth's fault that the rubbish is there, it is the ignorance of people who discard it in the first place.

The times I have watched (in disbelief) drivers throwing their rubbish out of their car windows and into the road, children and parents walking along the pavement and dropping sweet wrappers on to the pavement.

The people who do this are filthy, inconsiderate and downright ignorant.

In the past I have waited for my son at a bus stop and watched school children eating fish and chips while waiting for their bus.

As soon as they have finished with the food they threw their rubbish into a garden.

I did shout at them saying: "Who's going to have to pick that up?" The reaction was sadly predictable: sheer rudeness.

In Devon, the population is rising and the residents are passionate about their environment, being intolerant of rubbish.

Hardly any can be seen in the environment.

Intelligent people are afraid of saying anything for fear of violence.

Sadly our country has changed dramatically over the decades and newcomers have no respect for it whatsoever.
