In answer to Barbara Davies' recent letter supporting the use of animals in research.

A large number of knowledgeable doctors condemn vivisection as unreliable and totally useless.

Thalidomide was extensively tested on animals and most people will remember the terrible results of that.

Aspirin and penicillin kills cats while botulinum poison will kill a human but not a cat. Morphine excites cats but sedates humans, clinoquinol causes blindness and paralysis and isoprenaline used in aerosol inhalers for asthmatics had dire consequences.

The list is endless and I think proves the point that animal research is outdated and dangerous.
