Streatham had 19-year-old Michael Rush to thank for steering his side to a winning draw at home to Camberley on Saturday.
Rush, Streatham's overseas player, had never encountered anything like the slow, green surface enlivened by overnight rain but still managed an unbeaten 73.
Camberley were put in and were soon struggling on 10 for 2 thanks to Nigel Jones's double breakthrough. That allowed Streatham to maintain the upper hand as Camberley reached a gettable 167 for 9.
Early wickets for the visitors had Streatham in trouble at 62 for 4 but once Rush and Murphy settled down their partnership was enough to secure the winning draw.
