AN ANGRY landowner has vowed to sell his land because it is plagued by unwelcome travellers.

Robert Ellice, 59, from Rayley Lane, North Weald, is sick and tired of travellers leaving rubbish on his large field off the A414, Hastingwood,

The last straw came when travellers broke into the field and set up home there two weeks ago. It was the third time this year travellers have used the land.

The uninvited lodgers have already cost him £2,000 in damage this year. He is doubtful whether he can acquire a possession order commanding them to vacate the land.

The livid landowner said: "I will put the land on the market next week. It's more trouble than it's worth. I do not know what else to do. They won't move until they have fouled the field."

Mr Ellice said he was now praying for rain which he said would soak the land, encouraging the travellers to pack up and leave for drier pastures. In the meantime, he plans to meet police to discuss an alternative course of action.
