Her hard work helping pensioners and disabled people has won Lucy Tattersall a nomination as Londoner of the Year.
The 29-year-old project manager from Dulwich Helpline plays a key role in the Lordship Lane-based organisation, which helps people across south west Southwark.
It is a free service run by volunteers which offers practical help, such as taking clients to the doctors or going on shopping outings.
The organisation also acts as a link between elderly people; it runs the Homelink project where clients can meet up with others and enjoy a chat.
Lucy, who lives in East Dulwich, has worked for the scheme for two years and was nominated by one of the users of the project.
She will find out at the November finals whether she is one of the winners of the award, but she says although she is pleased about the nomination, there are others that deserve it more.
"I am just doing my job - it's the volunteer workers that really deserve this," she said.
The Dulwich Helpline always needs more volunteers. Call 0181 299 3733 if you can help.
