Worcester Park I 172 for 6 dec, Kenley I 173 for 7.

Three sixes in the penultimate over wrestled victory away from Park on Sunday in a contest that had threatened to go to the wire.

Kenley's Bailey creamed Aidan Bell thrice into the mid-wicket woods to end the game clinically with eight balls remaining.

As the ball disappeared to the boundary, so did Christlieb's chances of a deserved century and the notion that runs were hard to come by.

For much of play scoring shots had been at a premium on a pitch comparable to the low, slow strips of May.

Batting first, Park's Neil Williams and Oli Burley played with patience in a watchful opening stand of 48.

Then James Turner (39) and Matt Wheadon (22 not out) both struggled to time the ball convincingly but did ensure the away side had enough runs to play with.

In reply, only two of Kenley's batsmen passed the 15 mark to highlight the difficulty of scoring.

Tight bowling from Wasim Minhas removed both openers cheaply, before John Drake, whose match contribution to that point consisted of launching his bat into the air after being run out, pulled off a mirror-image dismissal with a chase and throw from the boundary.

Another run-out left Kenley faltering at 86 for four as the final 20 overs began.

Defensive field placings and wickets for spin twin Wheadon and Aidan Bell left Kenley needing 19 off the final 12 balls before Bailey became the toast in the bar.
