THE very last throw of the competition put an end to Emeka Udechuku's hopes of a world title.
The Blackheath Harrier took the lead in the fifth round of the shot putt competition at the World Junior Athletics Championships, with a throw of 57.99m. However, Hungarian Zoltan Kovago threw 59.36m in the final round to take the gold in Annecy, France.
Other Harriers who performed well were Chris Moss (sixth in the 800m), Nicholas Thomas in the triple jump and Alloy Wilson (seventh in the 400m).
Sprinter Julian Golding finished fourth in a meeting in Sheffield at the weekend.
