Cpl Richard Walcott and Rfn Stewart Molloy from the 2nd Battalion Royal Green Jackets are part of the Stabilisation Force (SFOR).

The NATO-backed initiative is aimed at ensuring all sides in the former Yugoslavian country keep to the terms of the peace deal which ended four years of bloody civil war.

Cpl Walcott, known as ''Wally'' to his mates has been in the army for 13 years.

He is pictured after taking part in sniper training where he had to hide in the undergrowth as expert marksmen tried to locate his position.

Rfn Molloy was part of a squad stationed in the devastated town of Bosanski Grahovo.

The town is away from the battalion's main base and suffered major damage during the war.

As well as ensuring peace is maintained, SFOR troops help civilians return to their homes.

Many were forced out during the war as advancing armies carried out ethnic cleansing.

The Royal Green Jackets will be in Bosnia until October when the battalion will move back to the regimental headquarters in Germany.

The soldiers are keen to hear from female pen-pals. Photographs would be appreciated.
