Since the new scheme designed to ease the parking problems experienced by residents' started in Shortlands on June 1, I wonder if the transport engineers realised the effect this would have on other residents, not included, but living nearby.
I live in Hillside Road, a continuation of Queen Anne Avenue and one of those not included, But having to suffer a larger number of motorists parking outside our homes, sometimes double- parked all day!
By the number of vacant spaces in Queen Anne Avenue, it's obvious these were once occupied by commuters going to Bromley South station, who can get to Shortlands station just as easily from here.
Residents on this estate now have difficulty crossing the road because of cars double-parked, while ambulances and other services for the elderly have problems picking-up residents at the entrance to their homes.
Buses picking-up and dropping off passengers near the junction of Kingswood Road and Valley Road are having difficulty stopping because of parked cars. We never had this problem before June 1.
Surely, in their wisdom, someone should have foreseen the consequences, and at least included the residents of Hillside Road in their consultations of 12,000 properties in the borough.
