IT IS good news for parents on low incomes as nurseries sign up to a new scheme.

A quarter of Bromley's 40 nurseries have pledged support to parents by joining the Childcare Affordability Programme.

The Government initiative, launched this month, will allow parents on low incomes to claim subsidised day care places for their toddlers.

Criteria for claiming a reduced price place includes weekly earnings and the level of child tax credit entitlement.

Portfolio holder for children and young people Councillor Graham Arthur said: "It's good news for working parents. Well done to the Bromley providers who've signed up for the scheme."
