The next test for Martin Hayes' side is an FA Umbro Trophy first round tie away to Slough on Saturday, November 4.

The Blues have had many stirring encounters with the Ryman League Premier League team from Wexham Park over the years.

Stortford's supporters will fondly remember the 4-1 win in the second round of the FA Cup at Wexham Park in 1983 when Lyndon Lynch grabbed a superb hat-trick.

New signing Lee Doherty, a former Arsenal YTS player, stands by to replace Martin Sedgewick. Sedgewick isn't eligible as a result of the Bromley game being postponed.

Doherty, 20, has also been on the books of Charlton, Brighton, Chesham United and Crawley Town.

He began this season with Wealdstone and recently played for Ware.

Gary Kimble should return but Danny Foot may be un?available. Another new signing, Adam Hart, will probably play in goal as Reading have recalled Jamie Ashdown. Ian Brooks is back in training and may earn a place on the bench.

Stortford's leading scorer Vinny John faces a return to former club Grays Athletic in the second round of the Full Members Cup.

The Stortford youth team were beaten 3-1 at home by Stevenage Borough in the Southern Counties Floodlit League on October 25. They face St. Ives at Woodside Park tonight in the Eastern Junior Cup. Kick-off is 8pm.
