THERE was a battle of a different kind at a military modelling day as people entered their handiwork into a competition.
Gravesham Military Modelling Society held its annual open day at St George's Church Hall, Church Street, Gravesend.
Various hand-built and hand-painted models were entered into 21 classes of competition and judged on the day.
Entries included models of Romans, Normans, Grenadier Guards, military vehicles and tanks.
The winners from each class of entry then went into a final competition to crown the day's overall winner, who got to take home a trophy.
There were displays from other modelling clubs around the area and traders were on hand selling a mixture of hobby materials such as kits and books.
Chairman Jean Bickerstaff said: "It was a great day."
