KIDS took part in a Kwik Cricket Festival at Bromley Common Cricket Ground with the aim of encouraging girls to get involved in the sport.

After the success of the England team in regaining the Ashes from Australia this summer Bromley schools have gone all out to promote the wonderful game.

Organiser Sue Duke said: "The festival was a great success in terms of promoting junior cricket and in particular encouraging girls to participate in the game.

"The programme involved more than an hour of coaching, skills and circuit competitions followed by matches and finished with presentations including certificates for every pupil."

More than 100 children took part and the winners were Biggin Hill Junior School, Old Tye Avenue, with Keston Church of England Primary School, Lakes Road, in second and Scotts Park Primary School, Orchard Road, taking third.
