A GROUP of blind and partially-sighted youngsters have just spent a fun day getting to grips with sport.
Nearly 40 children from Bexley and across London and Kent, aged between eight and 14, spent a day at Erith Leisure Centre, Avenue Road, Erith, trying their hand at trampolining, swimming, indoor cricket, football and martial arts.
The day was part of a London-wide series of sporting events for disabled youngsters held annually and although Bexley children have taken part before, it is the first time the borough has hosted a day.
Coaches from nearby clubs gave tuition, helping adults learn more about coaching children with disabilities and giving the children a connection with a local club if they want to take the sport further.
The day was co-ordinated by Bexley Council, Parkwood Leisure and the London Sports Forum for Disabled People.
