TWO schools are set to benefit from a major cash boost.
Both Lewisham and Greenwich education authorities have been awarded £6m by the Government to improve school buildings.
Lewisham Council will spend its funding, along with £1.5m of its own money, on refurbishing Rushey Green Primary School, Culverley Road, Catford.
Member for education Councillor Katy Donnelly said: "I'm delighted. This money will ensure children attending the school receive the quality education they deserve."
Greenwich plans to use its £6m to fund the relocation of its main special needs school for five to 11-year-olds.
Education chiefs hope to move Willow Dene School from its current site in Swingate Lane, Plumstead, to a new site in Hervey Road, Kidbrooke.
A spokesman for Greenwich Council says the money means it can begin a consultation progress with parents, to get more feedback on the proposed move.
The funding comes from the Department of Education's £236m Targeted Capital Funding programme, which aims to improve school buildings across London.
