PLANS to build a new residential hospice for children have been given the go-ahead.
Greenwich Council has given planning permission for Demelza Hospice Care for Children to open a new hospice in Wensley Close, Eltham.
The facility will have a four-bed unit which will provide short-term residential care for children and their families.
The new hospice will also provide end-of-life care and a base for Demelza's home help and advice services.
Demelza chief executive Ted Gladdish said: "This is a really exciting time. There are so many children we can bring further help to."
Building work on the new hospice is expected to begin in spring next year.
