A group of young footballers from the New Addington Little League visited a DIY store last week to pick up supplies, after being awarded a £5,000 grant that will help keep their club alive.
New Addington Little League Football recently won the grant after being short-listed from over 3,000 entries to B&Q's national community award scheme, the "You Can Do It" Awards 2001.
The club is used by over 100 youngsters aged between eight and 12 years old, but was facing relegation from the league unless their premises were refurbished.
Leader of the Little League, Jim Browne and four of the boys visited B&Q on Thursday, June 28, to pick up much needed materials for refurbishment.
He said: "It's fantastic news. We try hard to provide a vital resource to the community and our funds are always limited."
