Carshalton Athletic were drawn against two of their pre-season opponents in the FA cup and FA Trophy.

In the FA Cup the Robins will travel to Banstead Athletic on September 1.

It will be a return home for Matt York who joined the Robins from Banstead towards the end of last season.

The game is sure to drum up huge local interest in the area and Robins manager Frank Murphy isnt taking the game lightly. Anything can happen on the day, he said. I know its an old clich, but that is cup football.

Banstead will be up for that . Merland Rise is a nice pitch. We look forward to playing them when the time comes.

The winners will face either Hailsham Town or Peaceheaven & Telscombe on September 15. A home clash with Croydon awaits the winners on September 29.

In the FA Trophy first qualifying round Carshalton will be up against St Leonards, who they entertain in a pre-season friendly on August 4.

The winners of the Trophy tie will face Crawley or Newport IOW on December 1.

Murphy added: St Leonards have a new manager, who has been given the money to go out and buy players.

All the cup games we have are very difficult. We will have to play well to advance.

Carshalton players return for their pre-season preparations tomorrow at Colston Avenue.

Murphy says he will have a look at his squad before making any decisions on new personnel. He added: They will all be given a chance in the first two pre-season games against Horsham and Charlton.

There will be players coming in. I am talking to two with a view to signing them next week.

Carshaltons pre-season fixtures: July 24 Horsham (A), 25 H Charlton X1 (H), 28 A Banstead (A), 31 Crawley (H), August 4 St Leonards (H), 11 Hampton & Richmond (H).

l Carshalton Athletic Ladies will play American side Colorado Storm at Colston Avenue on Thursday, July 12.
