boot sale: The Friends of Mellows Park is hoping to raise around £1,000 at its annual boot sale in aid of London Wildcare on Sunday. Staff
at the animal hospital formerly Wandle Valley Wildlife Hospital will be bringing along a hedgehog and a couple of ducks to the event in the park on Stafford Road, Wallington, which starts at 11am or 10.30am for sellers. London Wildcare welcomes
donations and old towels, kitchen paper and pet food.
party time: Cheam Fields Primary marked its 10th anniversary last Friday by letting off about 400 balloons from the school on Stoughton Avenue. Two balloons have already travelled as far as Norfolk but contestants have until September until the deadline for the race is reached. There will be further celebrations on July 14 when ex-pupils and teachers will be meeting up for a re-union party with a live band.
awards night: The hard work of students and staff at Orchard Hill College, Carshalton, will get its just deserts
at its outstanding achievement awards, next Thursday evening. It kicks off at 7.30pm, at the college for people with severe physical and learning disabilities in Fountain Drive.
