I write with reference to your article in May regarding the removal from the register of a nurse found guilty of theft.
My colleagues and I find the comment: she will only ever be able to use her nursing experience at the lower end of the professional scale, such as a care assistant very offensive.
We take our responsibilities very seriously, being in positions of trust. The dispensing of drugs, ensuring the well-being of those in our care, handling their financial affairs etc demands a high standard of commitment.
To suggest this woman, having a criminal record, could even be considered suitable for employment as a care assistant undermines our profession and is an insult to our integrity.
We may be at the lower end of the pay scale but our dedication is of the highest calibre.
