lorry crash: Trains and road traffic were brought to a halt in Norbiton on Monday night, after an articulated lorry crashed into the railway bridge on Coombe Road. Railtrack stopped trains running on the line after the lorry, which was too high for the 12 foot bridge, got stuck underneath it at 8.30pm. The company immediately sent out a rapid response investigator who verified that the bridge had not been damaged in the crash and trains were restarted at 8.45pm. But the lorry was still stuck and cars were being diverted around the bridge at 10.30pm.

woman assaulted: A 24-year-old woman was indecently assaulted as she walked towards Mortlake station at 8.30pm on Tuesday, June 26. The man lunged at her and grabbed her breast as he drew level with her on the pavement in South Worple Way. He is described as black, aged 23, 5ft 6ins, with a shaven head, wearing a white vest and blue shorts. Ring 020 8247 7031.

dont pay as you go: Thieves stole mobile phone cards from a post office in London Road, Mitcham, at 5pm last Thursday. Two 17 year olds walked into the shop and helped themselves to a handful of pay-as-you-go vouchers. They were wearing a crash helmet and a jacket emblazoned with the brand name Red Bull. teenager attacked: A teenager was assaulted in Farm Road, Morden, in an unprovoked attack by two men which left him bruised and battered. The 17 year old was attacked at 11.20pm on Friday when he refused to hand over money to the two men, who are aged about 19. Call Sgt Mick ORourke on 020 8649 3191.
