A mother was left seriously out of pocket after a pony-tailed mugger snatched a
plastic bag containing £725 from the handle of her
daughters pushchair.
Police have now launched a manhunt for the white, 6ft, 30-year-old with greasy long mousy hair tied back in a pony-tail, who is described as having a droopy mouth.
The mother collected the £725 payment from the
Sutton branch of Halifax Building Society last Monday at 9.30am. She then
walked along Benhill Wood Road to where her car was parked.
The suspect approached her asking for a cigarette light, but when she refused, he demanded the bag and took it from the pushchair.
The police search has proved complicated because the mugging happened out of range of Suttons CCTV network and investigations have shown that Halifaxs cameras were not activated at the time of her appointment.
Police believe the suspect knew there were no cameras in the area.
