The musical age of the 1920s was recreated in Nonsuch Park when the annual Jazz Evening was held last week.

An audience of about 500 music lovers enjoyed performances by the Brian White Magna Jazz Band.

Gloria Sheridan from the Friends of Nonsuch Park who organised the event said: It went brilliantly. The weather was kind to us and the people thoroughly enjoyed it.

The event raised £4,716 in total including £1,001 from a raffle with prizes donated by traders in Ewell Village.

The money will be used for restoration work on the old mansion house including the building of a classroom for visiting schools in the stables.

Gloria added: We wanted to build the classroom with desks and things so youngsters can come for field trips and enjoy the facilities. Our aim is to help youngsters from this generation and future generations.
