I am writing to object to the proposed plans for a new 10,000 all-seater football stadium on the grounds of Barnet Cricket Club.

As we live opposite the cricket club, my family and I are concerned about the noise, pollution, traffic and parking problems this would bring to Barnet Lane.

We have lived in this house for more than 30 years and we were under the impression that the lovely views we have from our house would not be built on as it is part of the Green Belt.

It is also quite obvious that this is going to have a detrimental effect on the value of our property.

Is Barnet Council prepared to compensate us for our loss?

The cricket club has stood on this ground for more than 100 years and is going to be a huge loss to the community as will the playgroup that uses the clubhouse.

Children, dog walkers and sports people use the playing fields next to the club.

How are parents going to feel taking their children to play on a Saturday afternoon with up to 10,000 football supporters converging on Barnet Lane?

We have all read about football violence and if Barnet are going to play against bigger clubs, surely we are going to experience more violence and disturbances within our community.

I urge the council to re-think these proposals and for the new football ground to be built in an area where it will not alter people's lives in such a drastic way.
