A Bromley teenager is fronting a campaign to fight the Government's decision to scrap Railtrack.

Usman Mahmud, 19, of Quernmore Close, has launched Railtrack Action Group after his family lost 20,000 following recent Government intervention.

The group of around 450 members wants compensation for depressed shareholders who have seen their money wiped out.

The City of London University student, currently studying business computing systems, says he is "appalled by the Government's action".

He has launched a website in a bid to gather support for the cause. In its first week of operation, it received 1,000 hits with messages of support for the campaign.

He said: "I am very annoyed at how the Government handled this whole issue. I just felt I had to do something to try and get justice for everyone who has lost money."
