Fitness instructor and English teacher Tanya Buck has joined eight contestants on Channel 5 television series The Mole.

Tanya, 33, appeared on Sunday's second weekly programme based in Canada where five men and five women have to work as a team to win challenges with thousands of pounds at stake.

However, one person is a mole who must sabotage the efforts of the other contestants without being detected and stop them from winning the money.

Tanya, of Somerset Road, New Barnet, said: "At such an early stage it's really impossible to say who the mole is and it makes you feel suspicious of the people around you but they are a really nice bunch."

If she wins the money Tanya hopes to splash out on a holiday and give some to her friends and family.

She says she plans to use intuition, stay vigilant, check body language, be honest and stay true to herself in an effort to win the game. "I think people find it quite difficult to work me out. The team are quite boisterous and excitable while I can come across as quiet."

Tanya is adamant she is not the mole herself. "My friends say I can't lie. I'm straightforward, trustworthy and uncomplicated. I've got a bad memory so I'd forget lies."

To see how Tanya fares watch The Mole at 8pm, Sunday on Channel 5.
