ON a wet and windy weekend, with many games postponed because of flooding, Bromley's under-18 girls' hockey team lined up against Crowborough.
In spite of the conditions, Crowborough's first-class astroturf pitch coped with all the water, and an exciting though topsy-turvy game resulted.
Bromley spent the first 20 minutes not only in Crowborough's half, but much of the time in Crowborough's circle, but their brave young goalkeeper, somehow kept everything out.
And then of course the inevitable happened. Crowborough broke free and scored completely against the run of play.
But after the interval, Crowborough began to wilt against Bromley's overall superiority.
Hannah Greenwood scored twice, but the coup de grace came from skipper Anna Frizoni with a great individual effort to clinch a 3-1 win.
