Volunteers were showered with thanks at a special celebration evening last week held to show appreciation for the work they have done for the service and its users.
The event was attended by some well known names including the Mayor of Croydon Councillor Peter Hopson.
It was for a special unit made up of volunteers aged from 14 to 85 who have been working hard since it began in 1977 providing support to social services and the local health authority.
Councillor Paula Shaw, cabinet member for the social services, said: "There are some 400 local people who volunteer their services to help others.
"The invaluable support they offer is helping service users to remain actively involved in their community and maintain their independence."
