A commercial on MTV next week will feature a volunteer youth football coach from Croydon.

Kevin Morris has made a contribution to the ad promoting the Millennium Volunteers (MV) scheme to 16-24 year-olds countrywide.

Croydon Council's cabinet member for education, Councillor Louisa Woodley, praised Kevin's volunteering contributions.

She said: "We are delighted that a Croydon volunteer has been chosen to help promote this scheme nationally, recognising the enormous contribution he, and others, are making to our community."

The scheme has given Kevin the opportunity to train youngsters at the Saturday Power League in Norbury - part of the Crystal Palace football in the community project.

MV is funded by the Department of Education and Skills, which has given the Croydon leg of the project £280,000 over three years.

The project offers a variety of volunteering opportunities ranging from mentoring in schools to environmental projects and recognises commitment with awards of excellence.
