Despite leading 10-8 at half time and appearing com-fortable in all areas of the game, Streatham again surrendered the points in this Surrey League Division Two derby.

The visitors quickly gained the advantage in the forwards and only in the last 10 minutes of the first half did Mitcham made any in-roads into Streatham territory.

Playing a fast rucking game that utilised their mobile back-row, Streatham kept Mitcham on the back foot and intelligent kicking from fly-half Will Manns pinned them in their own 22.

Streathams pressure was rewarded after 12 minutes when in-form winger Gavin Calloo went over for the first try. Continued pressure saw a penalty converted by scrum half Stefan Van Wyk to give Streatham an early 10-0 lead.

Mitchams solid pack gradually worked the home side back into the game and after a clearance was charged down on the Streatham line the score was brought back to 10-5. A further penalty saw Streathams interval lead reduced to two points.

After the break, Streat-hams pack was frustrated by the referee, who repeatedly penalised them at the ruck and maul.

Mitcham quickly began to take advantage and after a series of handling errors, took the lead with a well worked try on the right wing.

Streathams bad luck continued when a loose pass was intercepted to give Mitcham a third try.

Streatham rallied and their efforts culminated in a second try for winger Calloo.

The Thornton Heath side continued to press, with pack leader Craig Victor stealing Mitcham lineout ball only to be frustrated by errors at the breakdown.
