Might I gently point out to those of your readers who haven't fallen in yet that "top columnists" Smythe and Bradman, assuming they actually exist, that is, are deliberately expressing extreme viewpoints in order to provoke debate , or, failing that, expressions of outrage from the likes of Mr or Mrs Name-and - address- Supplied. Criticism will, therefore, be as water to a duck's back.
No, Mr or Mrs Supplied ( May I call you Name-and -address ?). For the truly repulsive, look no further than the letter printed directly above your own, to the sweet sentiments of the charmless Mr Thorogood (?), for whom the world's poor and needy, and those silly enough to contract AIDS, can all go hang, so long as his precious taxes are left untouched; presumably in case they are needed for a speed-bump.
Charity may well begin at home; fortunately, not many agree they should also end there.
