BARNES 53 bt PURLEY JOHN FISHER 10
An important clash for these two mid-table London League Division Four SW sides, turned into a heavy defeat for Purley John Fisher on Saturday.
The game got off to a lively start but within 20 minutes PJF suffered two setbacks. Richard Cebreiro was forced to leave the field with a back injury and Barnes scored their opening try through David Leigh in the left-hand corner.
Two minutes later, following some fine backline passing, Will Campbell-Stanway scored in the opposite corner.
PJF were finding it difficult to cope with Barnes' penetrating runs and conceded a further three tries before half-time, two for Dan Leigh and one for Nick Brady. Shortly after the restart the Barnes backs cut through again with Fonua Sikalu adding a sixth try before Stuart Johnson made it seven.
But PJF's tackling began to improve and they were rewarded with a well-taken try from No 8 Jim Macdonald-Clink. This merely spurred the visitors on and they added two more tries through Bob Argles and Angus Graham for an impressive victory.
