A father and son walked 60 miles from Henley Bridge to Putney Bridge and raised £8,000 for an ex-servicemens charity.
Francis and Elwyn Gladstone, the great grandson and great-great grandson of former prime minister William Gladstone, were repeating the feat of Francis grandfather the Reverend Stephen Gladstone, who walked the same distance along the north Wales coast in 1904 on his 60th birthday.
Francis decided to emulate his ancestors achievement when he hit the age of 60 and take the opportunity to raise money for the charity Combat Stress, which supports victims of war related stress and mental breakdown.
They started at 5am in Henley and reached Putney at 1am in the morning.
The last 15 miles were the hardest, Francis said.
The father and son team are hoping to repeat the walk next year.
