A WOOD Green bingo caller is only one step away from winning the industry's most prestigious award and a holiday of a lifetime in Los Angeles.
Ricky Denton, has reached the regional finals of the Bingo Caller of the Year competition, which will be taking place later this month.
His knowledge of the field goes back 24 years when he was first offered a job as a caller aged 18.
Ricky said: "I took on the role as the class 'joker', always making people laugh. I figured that I already had the personality for the job, therefore, I applied."
Ricky has worked within most of the bingo clubs in and around London, and yet still considers, the Mecca Club in Wood Green, to be the best.
During his travels, Ricky has been fortunate to work with a long list of famous celebrity personalities including Diana Dors, Leslie Crowther, Bruce Forsyth, Mike Reid, Barbara Windsor and Ted Rogers, to name but a few.
Ricky will face stiff competition from callers from Harlow, Bournemouth, Bexleyheath and Crawley in the regional finals at the Crown Bingo Club in Havant. The national finals will be held in central London on November 25.
