I thought it would make a change to write a few words in praise of our local council, since there have been so many letters recently denigrating it.
We returned from holiday this week to find that the high winds of last weekend had caused very large boughs to break off from the trees in front of our house.
These boughs fell in our front garden and very nearly blocked off our front door.
Since they were too large for us to move, we telephoned the appropriate
department at the council offices, who promised to
attend to the matter later that day.
A couple of hours later a tree-removal team turned up, made short shrift of the boughs in our garden, and then departed.
So how's that for efficient service?
It turns out that it's not all doom and gloom living in Sutton after all, despite the ridiculous anti-bin campaign.
