Worcester Park parents left a Sutton Council meeting on Wednesday with no clearer idea of when their childrens six-month wait for a school crossing patrol would end.
At the Cheam and Worcester Park area committee meeting, the parents, whose children all go to Cheam Common Juniors and Infants, were told measures would be taken to make the Central Road crossing safer.
But they would have to wait until the next committee meeting, in December, for a report on the councils failure to recruit a replacement for the schools former lollipop lady, who left in April.
Officers promised to add warning hatch markings to the Cheam Common Road approach to the crossing, in a bid to slow down traffic.
They also said the school warning lights would be set on timer to go on during the morning and afternoon crossing periods.
Parents compiled a 303-signature petition for a safe crossing across the road, labelled by safety chiefs as dangerous in July.
