l Both our academy sides played against Tottenham at Under 17 and 19 level on Saturday morning.

Murray Jones' U19s came away with a 1-1 draw. The side included 16 year old Lance Cronin who has already appeared at reserve level.

The Under 17s entertained Tottenham at the Beckenham training ground. The team was made up of schoolboys, went down 0-3.

Two players who were not involved at academy level were Wayne Routeledge and Gareth Williams because they were named in the first team squad for the match against Norwich City on Sunday.

Broadley is delighted to see the youngsters getting the recongition, he said: " They both deserve the call up ,and I am sure if called upon will not let anybody down".

* Academy U-17 striker Craig Dobson recently won a ball juggling competiton sponsored by Nike.

The competition, called the London Freestyler involved a number of other Academy sides. The main prize was the chance to appear in a music video for MTV. Unfortunately for Craig filming takes place on the same day as a vital Academy fixture and he will not be able to take part.

* A third Clubshop will opening on Thursday, November 1, in the St Nicholas Shopping Centre in Sutton. The shop will open officially at 6pm and Steve Bruce, the players and management team will be there for autographs. The first 250 customers will be given a pair of tickets to watch Palace v Crewe on the family day November 17, 2001.

* Fans should note that Saturday's game at Walsall is ALL-TICKET, prices are Adults £15 and Concessions £11. Coaches will depart at 10am and prices are Guests £16.50 and Season Ticket Holders £14.85, Gold Members £12.35.

Fans without a ticket should not travel to this match.
