YOUNGSTERS from Ladywell Gymnastics Club had a great time when taking five medals in the Regional Division Individual Competition held at Heathrow.

All the girls participated in the twice-yearly competition, which is divided into different divisions depending on their age group and level.

After these results, they will move up a division for next season's competition, which starts in January.

The three gold medalists were: Paige Augar, nine, from Brockley, who won the Division 3, eight to nine age group; Heather Thomas, also nine and from Brockley, won the Division 2 eight to nine years group and Lydia Mouldon, 12, from Bromley, who won the Division 3 12 to 13 category.

Ladywell had two girls who won won silver medals. They were Cristal Ewers, 10, from Catford, in the Division 4 10-11 age group and Samantha McRobert, also 10, from Sydenham, who was runner-up in Division 4 10-11 age section.

Three other girls took part in the competition and performed well without winning medals. They were Elizabeth Thomas, 11, who finished 10th, Briony Gill, eight, in ninth place, and Laura Henry who is also eight and came sixth.

They all performed the women's artistic discipline, which includes beam, bar, floor and vault.

Coach Shirley Callaghan said: "All the coaches at Ladywell Gymnastics Club are delighted with the children's performances. They done really well."
