DESERT HIKE: A 24-year-old from Gravesend is looking for sponsorship for his hike across the Sahara desert.

Jake Kirk, of Darnley Road, is joining a party of 60 fundraisers for the trek to raise money for McMillan Cancer Relief.

He needs to raise £1,300 to be able to join the adventure which begins on March 16 next year. Call 07974 179073.

QUIZ NIGHT: The Concern for the Chernobyl Children charity is holding a quiz night on November 17 in St John the Baptist Church, in Wrotham Road, Meopham. CHARITY HAIR CUT: The owner of a Gravesend residential home is going to have his hair shaved to raise money for Children in Need. Peter Rogers, who manages The Hollies in Darnley Road, is set to have his hair shaved in Asda in Thames Way on November 16 at 2pm. Residents from the home will be going to the store to watch.

STAMP CLUB: Gravesend and District Stamp Club is holding its next meeting on December 7. The theme of the meeting is "What else do you collect?" The club's Christmas social is on December 21. All meetings are held at 8pm in Anglo Saxon Hall in Berkley Road, Gravesend.
