A BEXLEYHEATH gran is devastated after rogue trick-or-treaters stole her kittens.

And now her two grandchildren aged two and five are desperate to be reunited with their missing feline friends.

Janet Oxlade, 50, of Grazeley Close, Bexleyheath, was talking to her friend on Hallowe'en night when she heard a knock on the door.

Not wanting to interrupt her telephone conversation she ignored the knocking and the shouts of "trick-or-treat" from the children outside.

The knocking went on for 10 minutes but Janet kept ignoring them and eventually the children went away. But when the grandmother opened the door, she discovered her three-month-old kittens, which had been purchased a few weeks previously, had been stolen from the front porch.

The cat-nap has left Janet horrified and now she is desperately seeking information so she can get her kittens back.

She said: "It has left me utterly shaken.

"I bought the kittens for my grandchildren, Charlie and Joe.

"Now they come home from school and look everywhere for them. When they can't find them they burst into floods of tears. It is disgraceful children can get away with this."

A spokesman for Bexleyheath police said: "We would urge any parents whose children have brought home kittens recently saying they were abandoned make sure they are returned."

An RSPCA spokesman also appealed for the safe return of the kittens.

He said: "We urge anyone who has information about this sad incident to contact our national line on 08705 555999.

"The telephone line is confidential and we would urge the children who did this to return them as soon as possible."
