Blue Peter would like to invite teachers and pupils in schools across the country to join in the fun and take part in the Mencap National Schools' Spellathon 2002.

Spellathon is a sponsored spelling test for school pupils using Oxford University Press approved lists. It has been successfully running since 1994.

Pupils are sponsored per word and each word they spell correctly earns money for Mencap.

The 2001 Sepllathon raised a fantastic £100,000 which is already helping to improve the lives of thousands of children and adults with learning disabilities.

February and March are the Spellathon months, but you can take part at anytime throughout the year.

It's really easy. All you have to do is call 0845 977 7779 or e-mail events@mencap.org.uk to request your free Spellathon pack.

The top fundraising school will win a computer and printer, plus there are loads of other runners-up goodies up for grabs.

So what are you waiting for? Join in the fun now.
