Sutton and Epsom moved into third place in London Division One on Saturday, after a comfortable 32-6 win over Haywards Heath who had been unbeaten at home for three years.

Haywards Heath opened the scoring through Owen Ashton's penalty kick, but within three minutes Sutton were in the lead.

A quickly-taken free kick by scrum-half James Daniels was spun out to full back Keith Middleton, who burst through three tackles to go over wide on the left. Captain Sam Frost kicked the conversion.

Haywards Heath mounted a sustained attack, which was well defended by Sutton, but eventually they went offside allowing Ashton to kick his second penalty. Sutton moved up a gear and a piece of individual brilliance from Frost saw them score their second try.

Frost, taking the ball from a ruck following a lineout 15 metres out, dummied and shot through the home defence to score under the posts and then convert his own try.

The second half was very much in Sutton's control, and rarely did Heath make it over the gain line with the ball in their hands.

Instead, they were forced to use the boot which invariably lead to loss of possession.

Five minutes into the half, the ball went out along the backs and Middleton burst into the line to score midway to the posts. The conversion was missed.

The game then got bogged down in midfield and it was left to centre Jake Webber to seal the win. A clever chip ahead by Frost was fumbled by the Heath defence, Webber gathered the loose ball and touched down behind the posts. Frost converted with the last kick of the match.

This Saturday Sutton are at home to Andover in the second round of the RFU Intermediate Cup (2.30pm).
