In response to JW Forward's letter about the VI crash.
There were two near Twyford Road, one on June 21, 1944, which exploded in Titchfield Road, badly damaging 12 houses which were later rebuilt. Sadly two young children were killed despite being in a shelter, possibly by the blast. My grandmother was injured in the explosion and admitted to St Helier Hospital that day. I have the emergency medical services notification document giving these details.
A few days later a house attached to St Helier itself was destroyed, I assume also by a VI. Fortunately, my mother, who is now 75, was unhurt in the attack.
