Orpington Ojays swimmers have been making waves at the Ponds Forge pool in Sheffield recently.

Emma Hulls swam in the National Masters' Championships and successfully retained her titles in the 100 metres freestyle and butterfly events. She also won a silver in the 50m freestyle.

Emma Hulls, who is a sports teacher at St Dunstans College, in Catford, came first overall in the 50 metres freestyle in 27.84sec and the 100m butterfly, clocking 1mins 6.30sec.

In both events she won her own age group and the open category, which includes all the other swimmers from every age group.

Emma attained a personal best of nearly two seconds in the butterfly and now tops the GB rankings for masters' swimmers.

She also achieved a second place in the 100m freestyle against a very strong entry of 163 swimmers.

Hazel Colbourne, Katie Bowman, Georgina Redman, Marie Heselden, Jo Mullins, Charmaine Brown, Emily Brown and Matt Perkins were also in Sheffield representing Division 11 in the Inter-schools championships.

Jo Mullins won the senior 200m individual medley event in a new schools' record, Matt Perkins was second in the senior 100m freestyle, while Marie Heselden finished third in the intermediate 100m breaststroke.

Other finalists were Charmaine Brown, fifth senior 100m breaststroke, and Emily Brown, who came seventh in the intermediate 100m butterfly

Mullins and Heselden were joined by Helen Chan to form three-quarters of the

senior girl's medley relay team

which came seventh in the final.
